Today I was reading an article "words-to-inspire " in the Readers Digest,
how true they are. My daughter has got honours in all her previous terms. I always praised her, but every time that I encouraged her to "Keep up" what she did, I always end up in forcing her or end up in "as it is " condition allowing things to settle on its own.
Now I want to try these tips.
1. Use good words to praise their efforts, not their results.
2. Instead of ordering or commanding language to change their behaviour, request them with a reason. They will understand.
3. When my daughters ask for some stuff, I always try to explain my reasons of economic inability ( or... rather my unwillingness), Now I have to be more straight forward.
4. When kids are upset, instead of pacifying them, listen to them. Wow ! the same thing I read a few days back in a management book on "Listening to your customers".
5. Most of the times the words what we use do not convey our intentions to the kids. Kids take them in a different way. So it is our responsibility to look into our communications to make it the best way.
